how is that?

i read an older topic and one of you said there that if someone has two planets with base PQ 26 the game is pretty much over.how is that? i had two of those and still got my ass kicked by drengin(on normal).i am doing something very wrong.i mean in military victory.i can't win a military victory.i stay out of wars untill later in the game ,until is only me and another race left.by then i have avatars while they have battleships or dreadnoughts at most.my economy is strong but only with trade with him.when we go to war my econ crumbles and i can;t sustain my military.at first i kick their asses really good but i only grab 2-3 planets of theirs and after that i go bankrupt.how do i do it.i only won 2 military victories but with terror stars-i blew up all their star systems.again i ask you:how can i win a military victory?

PQ 26 planets are nice because they can sustain enormous populations and provide massive income and productivity. But anyway, if you learn to manage your tax rate, spending rate, and sliders (military, social, and research production), it will help with any type of victory... especially military.

While I'm talking about this, can I once again gripe about the lack of an ability to set different tax/spend/slider levels for individual governors or planets? I mean, if a planet or string of planets really are supposed to be my research center, I should be able to set research way up on those worlds without affecting my military or social production on other worlds.... Likewise, on those rare occasions where a planet is having serious morale or loyalty issues I might want to set it to heavy social production with a lower-than-usual tax rate. And I shouldn't have to screw the rest of my empire to do it.

by the time there is only one major player left, you probably will be doing all of your trade with them, except with any minors, but by then, there probably wont be any left. once war is declared, you will loose those trade routes, and end up crippling your economy. best thing to do is to make sure some minors survive right to the end in military conquests, that way you still will be able to have some tradeing partners near the end of the game.
