Ship question

Since some of the ships like the frigate cost 10bc a turn to maintain are you better off having 10 corvettes or one frigate?

I don't have any of the higher level battle ship or drednoughts. I would guess that once you get into the real big ships you would have a main battle ship and smaller fighters for support.

Unless it has been changed recently, there is no bonus for having ships in a fleet. So when they attack, they go one at a time. So if your corvette's attack is lower than the frigate's defense, then your 10 corvettes won't do much damage to her.
In previous versions of the game (before they rebalance the ships' stats) I had about 30 corvettes attack my dreadnought and be all destroid, and only halving my ship's hitpoints.

So I'd say you're better off with a frigate rather than 10 corvettes (but they are also useful, specially if you have many bonuses).

Depends on your mission assigned for the craft/s.

If it is clearing out system defenders which are better than Defenders or attacking bigger targets, the frigate is a much better choice.

If you want fast interdictors/scouts or ships just to boost your military rating or to clear out weak defenders, the corvettes are better.

Cool, How do you setup a fleet? I chose several ships by holding ctrl and selecting them. I then click on the make fleet icon on the side but every time I try to move the fleet it seems like they all move independantly.

All the ships have to be "stacked"...sitting on top of each other. Then the 'make fleet' icon will work. :)
