Hopefully evrybody who isn't planning on really staying for the long run will get it out of their system and go back from whence they came soon... I've been considering a serious empire change for some time but I'm not going to do it as long as the hopping continues...

Apparently my departure has raised a few ripples. Although I only have a couple of minutes to explain (as I'm at work), let me give it a shot.

First - Cotal (er, Amidala), Alex, and those others who've said they plan to stay:

Thank you very much, and I appreciate your sentiments. The whole point of all of my activities in this empire was to create a climate where people are welcome. If you're reading into my comments that I didn't want you here, let me correct the impression. Your comments of today show that you have exactly the sort of commitment that ANY empire would be glad to have.

I bowed out because I really didn't like being the subject of a Metaverse scoring experiment played as a joke, particularly after all of the work that's gone into making this a place I enjoy. Hitting #1 should be the high point of any empire. It hits a bit hollow when it's given to you on a platter with the stated intention that it's only a temporary gift. What's the point of an empire if not teamwork, anyway? And how are you going to build teamwork with somebody that says hello by handing you an exit visa?

Matthew, if that wasn't your intention I'm sorry I took it that way. But if enough people keep playing musical empires, the whole point of a scoring system falls apart. Not to mention empires in general.



Joining is fine. If you want to stay, any empire would be happy to have you. I just didn't feel like dealing with the drama of wondering when you were going to leave.

You'll notice that I'm currently an orphan. If things settle down, I may rejoin the Jedi. But the only other empire I'd even consider would have to be invite-only.

Sorry - the phone rang and I ended that sort of abruptly. Just re-read what I had put down, and saw that I came across pretty blunt. Matthew, do whatever is fun for you - just realize that others may not react in the same spirit. I'm not asking anybody to go anywhere here; we're each responsible for our own decisions. For the time being, at least, I've made mine.

Welcome to the ranks of the ascendants o great obi-wan. Your path may not have been the regular one but your great deeds and tireless work will long be remembered. The bacon is fabulous up here.

Just wanted to apologize for the prank we pulled a few days ago, since empire-hopping seems to be getting a pretty bad name in this and other threads. Sorry about any harm done.

Also, since feelings seem to be running high at the moment, I wanted to emphasize that my little story about Mayito a few pages back in this thread was just a joke, and was not intended to disparage your empire, or anyone in it, in any way.

No harm done, few players as myself want to wait until all the waters will return to their levels, I am one player that enjoys been in an empire that wants to play, many empires right now have a big load of non active players and an empire only by invitation it is the answer.

Also to the former Fellowship members here, I'm sure you know that there are no hard feelings on our side. But do continue posting in the Fellowship Halls, when you can find the time in between fulfilling all your responsibilities as Jedi.

I think it's best if I return to the Fellowship, if they'll still have me. Let's face it, there is no Star Wars equivalent to an elf poet. I considered adopting a new persona, that of Jek Porkins ( http://www.gamespy.com/instapoll/poll.asp?poll_id=5733&maxwidth=300&dontvote=true ), but it's not really me.

And just for the record, I apologize for the prank as well. I would have never guessed a couple of players swapping empires for about 20 minutes would cause such turmoil in the Metaverse. For any trouble I have caused or any hard feelings that have been expressed, I am truly very sorry. The Jedi Republic has been and will be a very popular place for me to visit and I wish you all the best. I really hate that Obi-Wan left. I hope that he will return to the Jedi and continue to enhance this empire as much as he has already. Hey, the Jedi website beats the living hell out of anything I can do! You guys have an excellent resource in Obi-Wan.

Again, I'm sorry and hope that the Jedi can accept my humble apology.

Things have gotten out of control here. Wow. I understand why people have gotten disgusted with the empire hopping, but its a bit excessive to leave an empire because of it.

I am personally annoyed as well by the empire hopping of high scoring players, and I'll tell you why. The whole point of empiring is to work hard and grind your way past the competition. That's why it's fun. This constant changing of empires by top 25 players has the effect of making the metaverse rankings pretty much useless. And if your rank doesn't mean anything, then where's the fun in joining an empire? What is there to shoot for if a few people are going to change the standings for their own amusement every week?

I'm thinking that the empire hopping is finished now, so it is probably safe for former Jedi to return; and I hope they will soon. Mayito and Kyp, your place in the Fleet is reserved for when you do return.

Congrats, uncleBernie, on promotion to Senior Advisor. With Obi Wan currently gone, I don't know how soon this will actually be recognized officially, but congrats!

I think that we will be back, just waiting a little longer, maybe in the future we could change the empire to invite only, to avoid all this mess.

I agree with you KEmperor. I still have no idea what the hell is going on. I get on today and everything is... well... weird. I'm going to come back in a few days and I hope all of this stuff is cleared up.

Cotal, as you will no doubt soon be known as again, if an old master may be so blunt, the maddness your little hoppings have caused are why he left. Whether you ment it or not I think you somewhat upset him by toying with the rankings of the metaverse in such a way that months of work from all of us was for nothing. I'll let you chew on that before I say anymore.

Hey. Not true. Read the posts - and the email, Yoda - again.

Argh. I've said it about 86 times in emails and posts lately. If you join an empire planning to stay, good on ya. Cotal's made it clear she's staying for awhile; she's not the problem.

Cotal/Amidala, I believe Yoda is just echoing what he thought were my issues and not coming up with more of his own. There's been a lot of bad mojo drifting through the Jedi Temple today. If I've been the cause of some of it, my apologies. Anyway, I'm still at work and don't have the time to address this properly - more on this later.
