Planet colonizing bug

Hello,

 

I encountered a wierd thing in my last game where I tried to colonize enemy planet and it kept refreshing as enemy colonized world over and over after each destruction and colonization attempt I made.

 

Few notes:

  • 6 player map, only me and one last AI alive
  • the said system is appearing uncolonized but there's orange AI structures around it (i thought it was an intel bug at first, where one AI took another AI system without me recently exploring)
  • once the orange AI structures are destroyed and planet colonized via colony ship it refreshed itself as green AI colonized planet (the said AI is already defeated)
  • when destroying the planet and attempted to colonize again the whole thing just repeats (tried more than 4 times even before reloading and recording the video)
  • I went on to just end the last AI and this weird thing kept happening for another planets in this specific state (unexplored, apparently uncolonized world with different AI structures in the system)

Upon further testing, I found out that it's probably caused by the the fact, that the colony ship was captured via Boarding Crew component from Pirates. Because when I tried to colonize the planet with Colony Seed Nanites or with newly constructed colony ship it's working as should without any shenanigans as on the video in my initial post.

I also found out when searching this forum with specific words related to the capturing the enemy colony ship, that this is also a known issue.

I guess, this thread can be locked/deleted then.

I will try to be more thorough with my own testing and checking the already reported bugs next time. And if anyone spent any time checking this, needlessly, my apologies.

It was a good point and interesting. I though that was what was happening, seen the notes quite a while ago about the boarding company/planet claiming. Something like this happened to me a while ago, though you could side step the caps on civ/orbit slots with the shift key. It really looked like you could but you can't.
