Starbases?

Do damaged starbases repair themselves over time, or constructors? And if they do repair themselves over time, is it with the "repair ships" module, or not?

You don't need the repair module. It simply makes things go faster. Starbases and ships repair each turn based on your repair bonus, which starts at nothing and is increased by a number of different techs. If you haven't gotten to Basic Repair tech yet, your ships and starbases will not repair themselves at all. Also, it is commonly believed that ships in orbit repair faster...I've not checked that one myself though.

It doesn't? That's the only way I get my ships repaired before I get any repair bonuses. No idea what the exact repair rate is though but I see about a 2-3hp repair every turn.

Ships in orbit of starbases, or planets? As for the starbases themselves...they only start to repair themselves so long as you have a basic repair technology, right?

Orbit of planets, hukarez.

All crafts or SBs only start repair at the point where repair bonuses are obtained (from either tech, modules or anomalies).

Ah, I see. So essentially, based on the level of repair techs that I have, some of my SBs are going to repair slowly turn by turn. Any other way to speed this up, by chance? Particular techs? For some reason, I had thought I could use a constructor to help repair the damage, but apparently, I must have been dreaming that...

Every repair tech speeds the procees up. Your Repair "bonus", as long as it's >0, determines how fast your ships repair. I'm not sure if a repair module on the starbase will speed the starbase's repair itself - it will speed up the repairs of damaged ships in the same sector as it though.

i have checked the orbit vs non orbit repairing. i tested on a excalibur, from 178/406. it took 18 turns to repair in orbit. from 162/406 it took 24 turns out of orbit. sorry about the slight difference, it was the best i could do.this was at beyond human tech researched playing as a war party (conquest setting).so maybe someone else shout test it and get as close to 175 as possible with a excalibur (twice) and test orbit/non orbit with a different party ( technologists, mercantilists, etc.). post it in this forum so we can compare. (must be at beyond human! REMEMBER!)

Strykerstorm, you can perform the test on the same
excalibur by saving the game before you start the test.

See how much it heals in orbit, reload the game
and test on the same ship outside of orbit.
