Hydroponics missing from research tree

Super Nova

I’m playing quick start and honoring over one of my colonies it indicates I can choose an orbital improvement “Orbital Techapod Hatchery” which would be nice so I can up my resource gathering at space stations. However, it claims Hydroponics tech required and when searching the Technology Library it doesn’t exist. I assume this is a bug?

I bet when you made your Civ you did not pick the farmer ability.

You need to choose farmers to get hydroponics and it's branch. The other three choices in that section also allow a branch of tech. Part of the Supernova changes if you were on Epic.

I made the same mistake on my current game!

I assume I did not get that chance to choose since I picked quick start

End of KarlEngler's quote

I would say you could take the "I assume" out of your question. That would be the reason.

IIRC, Hydroponics was common to pretty much most in GC4. (without having to pick farmer)

But when playing the Alarians or Humans in supernova and trying to add one of the botanical-resources to a colony, it would never let me with the tooltip saying it required "Hydroponics".

Then went and checked the research tree and it was nowhere to be found.

Hello! Its true that it got attached to the farmer trait with the tech rework, but I agree it probably could be better explained for people trying to get certain techs. Appreciate the feedback!
