Galactic Civilizations IV: Community Q&A #3 [21st April]

As we near the release date there is one more questions & answers session we are preparing to host.

This is an opportunity for everyone in our community to come and talk directly with members of the team and get your questions answered. It will be held on our discord server. Ahead of the event we encourage everyone to post their questions in this news post below. That way we can answer questions from people who cannot attend.

If you are going to come join the Q&A we recommend arriving 15-30 minutes early. Questions will be answered live as people raise their digital hands. Interspersed with questions that were submitted before.

The Q&A will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel.

going to try to make the Q&A if i can, but might not be able to so i wanted to throw my question up here instead...

What types of combat changes do you plan on making in future updates? including but not limited to: ship roles, targeting (small ships still seem to have an unnatural advantage here with no "trample" damage), weapons, defenses, accuracy, dodge, range, and/or changing the 1ship produced per turn per shipyard factor? what can the gal civ community have to look forward to in terms of new combat options?

Can you explain the siege mechanic?

The new siege mechanic has dramatically changed the strategy of moving ships around between all of your planets into using sentry and picket lines instead. Intercepting enemy fleets near the border is far more effective than engaging in a game of 'whack-a-mole' by trying to defend each planet individually.

Could someone just talk generally about post-1.0 plans.  People have been asking about when translations will happen (and in which languages), Multiplayer is due to go in at some point, Combat will be getting at least one overhaul, etc.  Also I assume that many of these changes will get gamed out on the test-branches?

Is there any other color on a post 1.0 roadmap?

GC4 has turned out to be pretty great, heading into release.  Congratulations to all involved..
