You have to research Terror Star then build the modules in a Starbase. Check out Javascout's site. I attach the Terror Star http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/62.htm

I meant a list from first tech research to last tech research to get a Terror Star. But a reply from a veteran, even if he/she is part of the White Council, is certainly an honor.

Check out this nifty tech tree utility, Dragoon.
Click Terror Star in the Tech box.

A bit too early to get into the thick of empiring, isit, Dragoon? Get that GROSS flag up first.

I'm sorry, what? I only joined this website for the forums so I could have my questions answered, I'm really more of a final fantasy fan, hence the dragoon. I don't want to submit games, or record my score, or whatever it is you losers without lives do, I just have questions that need to be answered.

The link is the answer to your question. Follow the link, select "Terror Star" in the first box, and click "Generate Graph". The result is the series of techs you have to research to build a terror star.

You're welcome, Dragoon.

As to my empiring comment, I think I mistook you for this fellow.

That's me, but only because I just plain like anything evil. I'm not going to play any games and submit them.

On a related topic, how do you get Terror Stars to travel faster than 1 parsec/month. I had one game where they moved 12 but I cannot remember how I accomplished it. Thanks.

It's a bug, Psydog. Terror Stars can be made to move at the speed of the ships fleeted with it.

Oh, that's unfortunate. I found them to be a lot more useful when it took less than 2 years to go anywhere. Looking forward to the new star destroying effect in the expansion though!

On an unrelated topic, how exactly is FF ANY more of a life than this... hmm. :notsure:

i know this is probly an old forum, but can i get a walkthrough on how to make a terror star? i cant figure it out. thx

The tech to research is Terror Star and the tech path to this tech can be found using the link to that utility that I posted above, strykerstorm.

Once that tech is researched, you need to build terror star modules in any starbase (military modules). The final module would require an investment of 5000bc and voila! a Terror Star.

The thing about that is, I don't spend every moment of my open time playing Final Fantasy.

And who says we spend all our time on GalCiv? I submit my scores regularly and am currently ranked 28th, yet I only submit a game a day at most...and lately it's been less. Certainly the majority of my free time does not go into GalCiv, however much I enjoy the game.

And yet, I've been relatively successful on the Metaverse...wow! It's not like an MMORPG, where the main "skill" metric is how many hours a day you spend in the game. :P

Granted, I'll never be first or even probably 10th at this rate...but I really don't care that much.

Friday Res-Erection!

So how come sometimes Terror stars seem able to destroy planets with ships in orbit sometimes and at other times not?

It would be good if in the Beta (probably too late now) if you could make Fake Terror Stars (like out of Paper-mache (?sp)) . . .

Ok final question . . . has anyone anywhere at anytime ever in the history of this game actualy had one of thier own systems destroyed by an AIs Terror Star?

I've never seen a completed AI terror star before. Don't think the AI knows how to use them.

While the AI may not know how to use them, while playing on "challenging" once I saw the Arceans had began construction on a Star. That one star base got as far as the Bridge before I smited them.

Wow . . in one of my crippling games (actualy my only crippling game I think . . . hehe), The Torians built 2 of the monsters, both on millitary resources. Pity they couldn't move anywhere because of the Councils decree later in the game (i.e banning Terror Stars).

I wonder how much newspaper flour and water it would take to build a fake one, you know around a usless planet or something . . .

For what purpose? Like Chia-Earth or something? Or just for the sake of having an intimidating looking thing that isn't necessarily and actual threat, like a paper tiger fleet to scare your enemies?
