Hey Everyone,
This is my first post on the forums here but I've been a long time lurker. I've played a lot of Galactic Civilizations over the years and I sincerely appreciate the hard work and time put into this series - I just want to say thanks to everyone who helped with development. My life has been greatly enriched by Galactic Civilizations.
I've put about 40-60 hours into Alpha so far, mostly as the Terrans, and I'm really enjoying how everything plays so far - thats all I'm going to say to avoid getting into a general review. I really want to address one feature that I've noticed made it into the last SitRep: planetary citizens.
I really like how individual citizens have stats and specialties etc. I don't like the way they continue to just sit in the top corner of my Colony screen, waiting for me to make them a specialist - or not, bc I often don't. Early game I do but as the game goes on I find myself forgetting about them most of the time - every so often I'll go back through and "fix" the workers in however many colonies.
Why not have the citizens populate the structures? We start with base citizens and they become a Scientist when I put them into a Research Lab, a Worker when I put them into a Manufacturing Plant, a Farmer when added to a Farm, etc.
The buildings could have a base stat that is boosted when citizens are added - dependent on their individual stats as well.
I feel like this makes each citizen more valuable also - do I send out the citizen with 7 Int in a Colony ship or do I boost my Research Lab?
This also opens the door for planetary/structure based events- "The Random Scientist on Terra fired all of his staff bc they pissed him off and now your short 5 Scientists in your Research Labs" or basic stuff like "Random Scientist on Terra has a breakthrough +10 % production to assigned Research Lab etc.
It would be fantastic if these citizens functioned a little more like Leaders and receive bonuses for length of time spent as Scientist, etc. It would be also nice to be able to move them around from planet to planet - so I can have that level 35 Precursor World populated only by my best and brightest.
Thats just my 2 cents on planetary citizens - I appreciate the opportunity to share it with you all.
