On that note, it's time for me to go......5am is less than 7 hours from now, and I still have stuff to do before going to bed.  **YAWN**  There just aren't enough hours in the day!

yep you probably will need it.

/me feels the love!

I think Kona would be better off buying a complete Dell system. At least he would be getting a legally liscenced copy of WinXP rather than some cracked version from ebay.

didn't get it off ebay either. Since when are you against me as well?

Besides i am not using XP hello!

And as far as the XP I have, the disc is silver with holigraphic Microsoft Logos on top and has documents with it that have the serial number on it.

If that XP doesn't require activation then it's likely to be an OEM version [as originally leaked to the net [by a Dell employee, I believe]]....every man and his dog could get his hands on that. As to having an 'original' MS disc....then my guess is that you shouldn't be....unless you are a systems manufacturer/distributor....

I am not a manfacturer or distributor.

maybe it does reqire activation I don't know. i usally do not download SP1 or any other updates.

Its been a long time I do not remember where I bought it. I never have had to call Microsoft to activate windows. Everytime I run the activation thing it says XP is already activated.

Actually I remember getting it from a friend if that helps you all understand. i brought my PC to him for repair and he put XP on it, all activated. He gave me a copy of it. The copy dosn't work now BTW. So I am stuck in 98/ME land for now even if I did build a new system.

Does this mean that Kona could have a copy of XP that he is not authorized to have?

what does it matter Jesse? the whole point is I am not using XP and it is not installed on anything I own so who cares? Microsoft could come to my house and find nothing.
...but if you still have that CD, so if you are not authorized to have it then that is an illegal copy you have in your house.

Hey Tech when did you get promoted?

Last time I checked you were just as bad (if not worse) than me on some threads. Besides you have not been here as long as me. And you even got exiled once.

??????????

Legolas probably has a legal copy of XP which does require activation but just activated itself over the internet like mine did a long time ago. It's never required me to phone Microsoft. I believe it does that if you move it to another PC or make some very significant changes to the hardware in the box.
