Stardock Fences slow loading

Slow to load on bootup and showing 2 identical entries in WIN10Startup tab of Task Manager

Showing v 3.0.9.11 in properties for Fences.exe.  Reboot and load of computer taking extended time, and I see in the startup tab of file explorer on WIN10 Enterprise, what appears to be duplicate entries for Fences settings. I have a ton of Icons on desktop hidden in fences, divided into 5 categories, and was hesitant to uninstall and reinstall this Pro version, as I dont want to go through re-organizing back  into the 5 fences again. (roll up style). Great product I've used  now for 3 years, but boot times are killing me before I have access to my icons.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Windows 10 delay Application Startup by default, you can disable that and see if it help. https://www.howtogeek.com/403162/how-to-disable-the-windows-10-startup-delay/

And, from what I know, Fences needed to load twice for it to work.

Purge and reinstall should not remove your saved layout snapshot : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling,just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account, purge using the guide linked above. reboot after the purge, reinstall and reboot again.

To be sure, you can use this guide to save you layout snapshot https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots.

Try that and report back.

Thanks

2 years ago I have purchased Fences 3 and it worked perfectly with my HP laptop however I got a new Lenovo p15v laptop and after installing Fences 3 it took forever for the fences and icons to show up (around 5 minutes at every statup).  I have tried reinstalling multiple times and went through all the suggested fixes on the Stardock Forum about this issue.  Nothing works and I even purchased an upgrade to Fences 4 to see if this would be better.  It's a shame this bug is killing the app for me.

I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise:

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎10/‎17/‎2022

OS build 19044.2130

I have tried:

https://www.howtogeek.com/403162/how-to-disable-the-windows-10-startup-delay/

I have tried disabling Fences from the Statup App, Task Scheduler and Registry and created a startup task in the Task Scheduler to run Fences once logged in.  Nothing worked..

Please help!
