1.09[b].001 Bug Report Thread

Noticed that Northwest Smith has posted a beta bug in the old 1.04.59 bug report thread.

This should really get a new thread all by itself.

"Once 'star list' is selected, the 4 boxes say 'mode1', 'mode2', 'mode3', 'mode4', and clicking them don't do anything."

If there is a word-wrapped entry in the diplomacy window, and you click on the second line, the entry below the wrapped one will transfer to the trade window. Similarly, all clicks below the wrap are shifted down one line.

Also, a longstanding minor issue: the descriptive text for Overlord Technology talks about Excalibur ships...which obviously aren't the ones you get to build from that tech.

Game hangs when I press the Turn button. I can do anything (go to diplo screen, check out planets etc) except press the turn button. I can send the save.

Sami, sometimes this happens to me as well.

The most classic one is the fact that a colony ship is awaiting orders to colonise a planet. Else try selecting any ship. When I do that, the turn mysteriously proceeds.

adding things to the last goviner on the list if the first governer hasn't been assigned that item yet assigns it to the first goviner on the list.. found this out by starting on the last goviner on the list and working my way up

My options say 1.04. It did the same thing on one of the 1.05 versions before being corrected.

I just try to post my result first game under version 1.09. The game advise me that the results were submitted. However my result are not posted.

I think that obsoleting a ship should affect the "To" panel of the Global Military Swap in domestic policy. Also nice would be to only list in the "From" panel ships that 1 or more planet is actually building.

never mind my previous post (#7). There was a problem with the install. Started wondering when I didn't see any of the exciting new features. Reinstall did the trick.

Saw some new events but not much else new. I do like the locking sliders.

~SDC~
Small issue with the locking sliders: If you lock one slider, adjust the other two, and unlock, you appear get the desired result. But then if you switch to another screen and return to the sliders, you'll find the percentages have been readjusted to match the slider positions rather than what they were. I'd like to see the slider positions adjusted to match the percentages if you unlock everything.

Also, I've had 2 CTD's now since I installed it. Nothing all that interesting in debug.err, but I can send a recent save...

Thanks Ray :)

Something weird just happenned.

I was researching Dreadnought (still had a good 40 months on them), and invaded a planet. Successful invasion, program tells me I stole 'Cultural Focus'. However, I actually got Dreadnought completed. I have the save game right before the invasion if this would help.

Any SE logs from your crashes?

Also, I have noticed my games have been crashing since 1.05 and during 1.09.

One explanation is that at least ONE civ must be spending money on research (including yours). If no civs. (and/or yours as well) is not spending any money on research, then the game can crash.

Cari fixed the problem, and was hoping for it to be in 1.09, yet, it wasn't. Also, I'm not sure, but I think it crashes because of research if tech. victory is disabled and no civs. put any cash into research. Perhaps activating tech. vic may solve the problem, but I'm not sure (can someone confirm this?)

Also for scores not being posted on the metaverse, make sure you update your metaverse registration serial number with the one you got from Drengin.net.

Hope this helps.

Debug Message: Tech Excalibur has no description!
Debug Message: Tech XenoPropaganda has no description!
Debug Message: Begin creating other screens.
End of quote

These two lines suggest that at least one of the data files are corrupted (the techs mentioned are in GCTech.TECH).

And I almost forgot. I have noticed my turn button getting stuck too.

When this happens I just press 'enter' and it gets it un-stuck.

Any idea if cloaking is now in the game?

I believe not, but I am getting the 'invisible ship bug' almost constantly. Reloading the game works, but it seems to be much more frequent than before.
Looks like a couple things are happening in the game that are diefinte bugs>

1. After about 15 upgrades to a star base it becomes invisible.

2. Also had Combat TRansports become invisible.

Restarting the game at that point ssems to cure the problem. Seems gommon in this thread.

The slider problem also occurs at random times.

Also the turn button does not function late in the game - it locks in a "pressed" state but you can still navagate the map and need to force a ship to move to get the game started again.

So, the Torians tried to shake me down for 942bc. Of course, I'm currently in debt to the tune of -448bc. Now, I don't know if it's a bug, but *I* can't try to extort other civs if they're in the hole. I seem to remember this issue discussed before, but I can't remember if it was passed over as a feature, or simply not fixed...

The bug, wherein you pay for one less turn than expected during Diplomacy trading, is still in.

This is significant because the AI values 4000 for 1 turn more than 4000 for 0 turns, yet it is essentially the same amount of money.

'Course, with sufficient will-power you can keep yourself from abusing this bug, so it's not pressing. ;)

On the Domestic Stats screen, it would be nice if Interest Rates obeyed the same line break system that Military Production and Social Production do.

All three texts are too big, so are shown on two lines.

For Military and Social Production, the % number is shown on the second line. For Interest Rates, the % number is shown on the first line.

This is a problem because once you've got an Interest Rate bonus (sans mods only a couple of events have this effect), all of your bonuses are off one line.

Try it and see. I hope this makes sense to the 'Keeper of the Bug List'.

Problem with the hyperlinked ship/starbase location dialog: If you right-click on a second ship/base while the dialog is still up, it switches to the new base, but leaves both "selected"...then when you try and transfer one of them into the trade, it moves both...behavior is a bit erratic though.

Problems with the "Total Routes" button dialog:
If you click the "Total Routes" button in the Espionage window, all of the trade routes are labeled as "to X", where X is the empire the routes are FROM. E.g. if I hit that button on the Drengin's espionage window, all of the trade routes are in the format "To Drengin Empire (systemname)", where systemname is the correct name of a system not under control by the Drengin.

Also, once you've viewed this dialog, pulling up a hyperlinked-ship dialog in the diplomacy window shows the last trade routes you looked at instead of the location of the relevant ship.

Oh, one other thing. There was an event where the Yor had a rebellion and a new empire was supposedly formed from the rebellious planets...but the Yor only had one planet, their capital, and they kept it! The named minor mentioned in the event never came into being...

After loading from a saved game.. My influence level drops dramatically

because the game isn't saving or isn't resetting the influenced areas of empty space where my ships have been but isn't influenced by my planets..

this phenomina only lasts for a turn or 2 after restarting from the save game then its all back to normal with a massive surge of influence

:)
