Welcome to Siege of Centauri

Ashes of the Singularity was a fun RTS game, made even better by the Escalation expansion that came out in November of 2016. The game focused on a large scale, and as I played I found myself wanting to watch the battles. There were thousands of ships, millions of smoke trails, explosions, and laser effects, all happening at once.

That scope came at a cost. There was a lot to do: armies to order, regions to take, bases to build, and much more. But for me, the best part were those massive battles where the hammer struck the anvil and we waited to see which would break.

I wanted to play a game focused on that moment. Where we had the power and destruction of Ashes, combined with the focus of a tower defense game. Something I could play quickly and cut right to the action. That is Siege of Centauri.

Siege of Centauri is based on a few pillars:

  • Build your defenses - Create defensive strategies using a  wide variety of towers and ways to deploy them. Large maps and multiple paths, and multiple entrances force youi to consider your strategy carefully.
  • Deploy Orbital abilities - It isn’t just towers. You can use a range of abilities to hinder or destroy a group of enemies. It isn’t just about putting the right towers in the right places, but when and where to use a EMP strike or deploy Milton to fend off attackers.
  • Watch beautiful destruction - Seeing Milton light up a swarm of incoming enemies with his mini-guns or rockets is fun. Build the perfect death trap, and watch thousands of enemies crumble against it.
  • Battle dangerous enemies - Face off against enemies like the Heart of the Phoenix that, when destroyed, drops an egg that will form a new and fully healed Phoenix if you don’t kill it in time. Or the Falling Star, which explodes when it is destroyed and disables all nearby towers. There will be a wide variety of enemies for you to react and respond to.

We just released the founder’s beta for Siege. As those familiar with Stardock know, we love our beta programs. It is a great time to get community feedback and has improved every game that has been through this process.

We have new features coming: Leaderboards, Survival mode, more maps, more challenges, etc. But what we really need is feedback from you. What is the most fun? What is overwhelming? Are the maps too big, or do you want to go bigger? Do you prefer longer missions, or shorter ones? Does the game need a minimap, or do you prefer a cleaner interface? What are your favorite towers, what are the ones you never use, and what new towers would you like to see?

That said, this is not a finished game ready for release.
This is a beta that we are excited to have you play. If you enjoy being part of the development process and seeing a game getting ready for release, then we would love to have you. But it will have bugs - features will change, things will break. You will be inside the sausage factory, and able to influence the creation of a new game.
