One of the things that I cannot figure out is, how to change things in the ability trees of a sovereign or a champ without changing the original abilitytrees(champs).xml in the data folder, which I really hate doing. I like having the changes entirely in the mod folder. I have successfully added things to the trees, but how can I get rid of features that are in there by default?
Example: The ranger quickfire ability is a drawback rather than an advantage, it blocks the archers' special abilities in the crucial first round and you don't have control over who you are attacking. I would like to change the ability to a spell which just adds 15 to the initiative in the first round. That's no problem when I change the original file so it casts a modified quickfire spell. But as I said, I'd like my mod to leave the original files entirely alone...
Any ideas?

Never mind, I found a solution. Putting a modified quickfire spell into the mods folder that has the same name as the original one works, it gets cast instead. Not quite satisfying, since there might be people around that use the original version of the spell.
