SOLVED!!!! ShipHullStatDefs.xml Modding Still Work??

First of all I am using Crusades 2.71 with no other mods other then described below.

So in previous versions I was able to use the file ShipHullStatDefs.xml to change the MassCap number to increase the total space available for a ship size to use for components.  Now In 2.71 I seem to only get a minor increase and not the increase I modded/edited in ShipHullStatDefs.xml.

Example being the default MassCap setting for a cargo ship is 90. I modded it to 160. In game it only gives 99.

So did something change as to how this is calculated or is their now a max amount allowed per ship size?

I also noticed that ShipHullStatDefs.xml is not in the Crusades DLC folder and has to be used from the Main GalCiv3 Folder. I tried putting the file in each of the mod folders (GalCiv3 & GC3Crusade) with no luck.

I feel like I missing something here. Any help would be great???

Thanks,

Try creating a mod in the mod folder and not modify the files in the games folders.

That is what I'm doing,, I first tried a mod in Crusades mod folder and then also in the base game mod folder.

I read in the forums that if you are modding a base game aspect or file it needed to be in the base game mod folder.

I'm not sure i buy it though, because it still did really nothing.

Thanks

Solved it!!!

So I found a post in the 2.70 patch notes by Old-Spider (reply#6), that talked about how his mods weren't showing up in game and found out that it was due to his naming convention of his mod folders. He used a period in his name, (i.e. "2.61") to show that they were updated to the latest patch. When he removed the period from the folder name, his mods started to work in the game. I had also done a similar naming convention (ALS_Star Trek_2018_Crusade 2.71). So  I removed the period, and still no luck.

Then I remembered I had changed one other name in the mod and wondered if that might have the same issue. I had in my troubleshooting renamed ShipHullStatDefs.xml to Allen_ShipHullStatDefs.xml. When I changed the back to it's default name,,,,,,,,

POOF IT WORKED.

So out of this,,,,

1. Names of mod folders DO NOT like periods.

2. Names of Default .XML files in a mod folder are not read by the game if they changed from their default name.

So hopefully this helps others, with similar issues.
