Why can I no longer have diplomacy and technology trading with minor civilizations in latest expansion?

I have noticed with the latest expansions of Gal Civ III you can no longer have diplomatic relations and tech trading with minor civilizations. Why is this. It makes the game less interesting.

Apparently it was considered unbalanced by the Devs and a bit of code was introduced to silence the minor races.

That is a bummer. I am losing interest in the game as it is constituted now.

Hmmm... Didn`t realise you couldn`t talk to minor races. You should be able to do. A mistake in my book.

I already raised it in support. They either correct it or lose me as a 20 year customer.

So what do they even do in the game anymore?  Are they just there to be conquered for now, or what?

And what's imbalanced about trading with minors? Shouldn't the minors be eager to sell/gift some the stuff we give them in order to maintain relations with their other nearby major neighbors?  I always assumed the techs I gave to a minor race would end up in enemy hands eventually.

Exploiting minor races was a major cheese in previous versions;  it didn't add anything in terms of gameplay or strategy, it was a pure exploit that just made things easier for the player. Beats me why anybody would be unhappy it was removed, and I'm utterly confounded as to how it could 'break' the entire Crusade expansion - it's one of the improvements to the game!
