Similar graphical issues with 1.9

After 1.9, I have similar graphical issues with Terran model starships as do others, with strange black shadows in place of the normal shadowing.  I want to bring this up just to say that the issue is not unique and that I hope there is impetus to fix it.  I have bought all the Galciv series games and their DLCs and now the game is unplayable for me.  I deleted and reinstalled, with no improvement.  I have updated my Nvidia drivers, no change.

I have same graphics problem with ugly shadowing on ships and stations. On amd here so perhaps not driver related if you're on nvidia.

I am having this as an on going issue, too, and can't seem to find much information on it. I am using a NVIDA GeForce 980GT and keep my drivers up to date... still, after 1.9 I have all sorts of shadow issues where everything has a black out effect until zoomed way in, and even then the shadows are just, off. Its really frustrating, can't even see my ships in the color scheme I tend to use...

As a quick example,

Before zooming in:

After zooming in:

Even after zooming in, the normals / shadows seem to be out of whack, but at least the black shadow goes away. This happens to ALL ships and stations...

I'm having exactly the same graphical issues. Didn't play for a while. Everything worked fine with my old games. Now, past 1.9, all ships and stations on all of my savegames have strange black shadows that certainly weren't intended.

It looks like it might be related to ambient occlusion.

Dunno.  I have same issue.
