Ship movement

Just a couple of quirks I've noticed regarding ship movement: firstly, if I click and move a ship while zoomed out, it's slow, and jerky and somewhat irritating. If I click the same ship, and zoom in as close as possible to the destination, and click the destination then BOOM, the ship gets there pretty much instantly. But zooming in and out to avoid slow ship movement is also somewhat irritating. If I click to the next 'Idle Ship" while first ship is moving, the game hangs while the first ship stutters towards its destination in pretty much the same way as it does if I don't click.

Second one, telling a single ship to join a fleet: occasionally the fleet AND the single ship move towards each other, and meet in the middle. The resulting fleet is displayed at a location that it is not at -  I can't select it or do anything with it, except by going to the ships list and finding/selecting that fleet, whereby it 'returns' to the original fleet location and can be clicked on / commands issued.

Everything else runs quick and smooth, no stability problems, everything seems to work well. Is there an option/setting to improve ship movement. I like Insane Maps, and late game with ships going 50-60 moves - and multiple fleets all over the place - these two 'quirks' put a damper on my full game immersion!

The ship movement is a known issue, I think the devs listed it in hotpatch #3 as a known issue.

I'm having the same issue and it takes forever for those ships to get to their destinations. Also, the "fix" for colonization events is broken again. I play on insane maps and after it possibly cycles through all of them the events stop completely. I'm 50+ new colonies since the last event and I have 170+ currently...

I've tested this with 60+ worlds and its been working fine for me.  Can you send me your save game and be sure indicate if you are using any mods and what dlcs you own.  Thanks

An interesting thing happened to me, i wonder if it is similar problem?

My survey ship went out of range to get around a wormhole.... now you know how a wormhole has that effect of deselecting a destination if it is too close and the ship is directed to a nearby square.... well that nearby square in this case was an out of range square....

 

Then what happened is that in each new turn after that, my survey ship did not come in the ship cycle list! I forgot about it for some time and it sat stuck in that same location until i finally remembered after about 10 turns and i had to click on it manually and send it back into range.

 

Not an issue worth making a bug report on, but it was interesting none the less.
