Heroes?

Ok, I have not fired up a game for a while. I keep seeing posts about Heroes. Do we have ship captains finally or is this a reference to the single strong ships you can hire as part of Mercs?

I don't understand why so many are referring to Mercs as Heroes. Some do boost capabilities of the fleet they in, but these aren't ship captains.

They are indeed the mercenaries. They sort of act like heroes as they give 'special abilities' to your fleet, or at the very least they have them themselves. Heroes has a more epic ring to it, but mercenaries a slightly more sinister tone. I like them anyway ;P
