Corsairs Ascendant!

Welcome GCIII fans to the 2nd Expansion of our beloved game! < Note, this is a fictional post>


"Corsairs Ascendant"  brings pirates into the living galaxy as a 'special' minors faction! See below for the new updates this new expansion brings. 


  • Pirates are now a special minor faction. You can now trade with and use these nefarious folks to influence how you want to rule the galaxy!
  • 6 new Pirate factions which can be increased and modded via our community!
  • New code which changes how pirates play. They do not play win but rather seek to prevent all others from winning! They will seek out other ai to barter or align with!
  • Pirates now build ships like major factions. They will build for interception (faster ships, long range) with a priority targeting colony ships, transports and trade ships! <Now you need escorts folks!>
  • You can now trade with Pirates! Send your Trade-ships to pirate bases make money or bring back slaves but beware, this can put a serious dent in your diplomacy with other races!
  • You can now ask Pirates to spy, invade or destroy your enemies or neighbors! Pirates will not start with any planets but  you can gift them transports and 'suggest' targets. The Pirates faction will then weigh its chances and send it to conquer the target or wait for a better chance elsewhere ( you gotta love data driven code!). 
  • Pirates do not deal in technology. You can gift them techs for favors such as disrupting your rivals trade or mining. You can also gift transports and they will attempt invasions! Pirates have their own tech tree mainly focusing on cheaper faster engines and life support and all types of weapons and defenses!
  • New personality and flavor scripts! If you think the Drengin insults are bad wait till Capn Jack Sparrow tells you like it is!

This would be cool.  Pirates are more annoying right now this adds privateers as a play which is a neat idea.

Yea, I have been posting this kind of thread for a while since we had Pirates. I am very very certain that Stardock will in fact have a major expansion which 'expands' on the entire pirate faction. The GC III engine has endless possibilities on such things. I wonder if we can have a 'special' faction that is neither a minor nor a major but has the ability to trade, invade, and engage in diaglogue via the diplomacy window. Distant Worlds is a good example of how Pirates can be done and GCIII has an engine that FAR outlasses it in ability to do things. 


My idea is certain to arrive the only factor is time. I predict it will show up in the next couple of years. If I knew how to write code I would tinker with it but I am not sure on how to test things.

I hope your right.  I love any RPG element that we can add to the sandbox.  This adds a little wrinkle of great pirate factions, they can't win but they might just turn the tides in a close war,  Like the pirates helped at the Battle of New Orleans.  Add in Rebels and coalitions and this makes war really fun.
