Abusing the trade system

This will probably be considered an exploit and be fixed after posting this. It does make the game trivially easy once you do it. Planned on exposing a few of these, but with only being allowed 3 posts/replies as a new member ill just do this one.

Gather as many resources as possible (Durantium, Elerium etc), this worked really well for me since I usually set them to be common or abundant. Also, I set minor races to be common, which made this even easier since they hoard a lot of cash, and never seem to attack you when at war.

Start a trade with the cpu. Offer them every single resource you have in exchange for as much tech or cash as you can get. Declare war and you instantly get all that bac,k but keep what they gave you. Charge them to make peace later and repeat.

I would at least like to see the AI react to such behaviour like it did in Gal Civ 2, where they had a diplomacy modifier something along the lines of "We know what you are doing".

You can call it the shame algorithm.

Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.

There is going to be a change to Diplomacy.

What you are doing is NOT an exploit as your actions have consequences diplomatically. DOW on minors is baaaad and you end up on everyones crap list. Now with that said you can do what you are doing for cash.

I do know there will be a turn lock out on your contacting any race after a DOW. So you have to go a while before you can come back and offer peace. Also It is possible that we can mod or make it so that if yoiu did a trade within X turns and you DOW on the tradee partner for credits or credits and tech, you will have the money removed or deducted from your treasury. This would put the brakes human-ai exploits on selling resources-get cash-dow..get resources back....
