QoL request: Display expired treaties / trade agreements on turn they expire

Title fairly self explanatory but even so thought I'd explain. On the notifications tab when a trade deal between myself and another race expires, I go into the diplomacy screen to check my treaties, only the trade deal that I've just been notified of has now disappeared, as it should.

The trouble now though is I have no idea what I'd previously traded with for this particular faction. Was it just resources for tech? An economic treaty for open borders. Whilst I can go into the trade screen and normally figure it out, this gets harder as more and more deals get struck with various races.

Is there any way of adding an 'expired treaties' tab in the diplomacy menu, which shows you what trade deals have expired that turn? This means I can view what I was previously trading and re-negotiate any deals I want to continue with, or even see if the race I want to trade with is offering me a better / worse deal after last time.

Or better yet, stop making treaties expire, as re-negotiations are tedious micro.

I don't mind it so much. I think they should last longer than one game year (52 turns) but I like that you may have to re-negotiate terms (as governments do with treaties). With the improved diplomacy update, it might be more interesting to deal new trade terms of the AI has a different view of you. Would probably make it so that timed trades can be adjusted rather than just a default 1 year before expiry.

I would like a pop up 2 turns prior and then I would like the faction I have the treaty with me pop up and give me 3 choices with wording like ..

"Hey we noticed our treaty with you is about to expire"

  • I would like to keep it going
  • Thanks for the treaty we are going to NOT renew it at this time.
  • Thanks for reminding me that I need to exterminate your race from the face of known space (declare war)

But this is just cluttering the already overly cluttered notification screen. Why add 'another' notification when you can have just the one as we do now, only it will display what those are on the turn it's declared as over? Removing renewal of treaties would be frustrating, as it means you're commuting to something that you can't take back, and having more notifications real would increase micro, and just bombard you with unnecessary information.

Lets just keep it simple - my treaty ended, which one was it? (goes to diplomacy screen) oh it's that one, do I keep it or not?

The only other thing I'd add would be adjustable timesvales on timed treaties (the longer you keep the treaty, the more value it has as it shows commitment)

A "Renew Treaty" button would be nice.

Extending the treaty under the current terms, or renegotiating existing treaty on new terms, doesn't really matter to me, either would be swell.
