Spawn Ships?

Ive been having a bit of a fun with the console, but I cant figure out how to spawn ships? I would like to spawn some basic Survey vessels when I start the game, just to get a bit of an edge when playing on the harder difficulties. How do you do that?

Usually folks smarter than me are quick to respond,  but its the fourth :\

Not sure how to do exactly what your asking BUT

1) do you know you can type help and see all the console commands,  & help <command>  gives info on that command

2) You must have the tech researched for the ship you want to make (unlock)

3) Use modcredits 20000  to give yourself 20000 credits (or any number you want

4) then go to your ship yard and buy the ship you want

hope \that helps

Thanks for the response. That I know everything about. But the console also have a Spawn ship command. If I do it your way I give myself a huge advantage since I have to get all the techs for the ship. I would like instead to spawn in a couple of more survey ships in first round, just to give myself a little bit of an edge against the cheating AI.

'Spawn' is the command to spawn in ships.  You'll need to then specify the ship with its full name.

Though if you feel you can't compete without cheating maybe try a difficulty level down from the one you're playing.

Sisko,  would he still have to have the correct tech researched for the ship he wants to spawn? .  e.g. if he wants survey ship he must have researched the tech that unlocks the survey module.

Also the 'full ship name'  needs to be as defined in the xml ... correct?

not true you can unlock a single tech by specifying the internal name as found in the XML

You can still get there pretty quick mt way by buying a few R labs and bee line to interstellar survey.

Isn't the survey module a starting tech?

Not that it actually matters.  Looks like something changed and the 1.1 opt-in (at least for me) 'spawn' just brings in an empty hull regardless of what techs you have unlocked.  'Spawnbp' on the other hand gives you an equipped ship at your current tech level.  It will give you armed ships even if you don't have the tech, it will just equip them with the base level weapons and defences.  The same goes for prototypes, so you can get them without having any resources.

As for the name, you just put in 'typeBlueprint'.  So for a Survey it would be 'spawnbp SurveyBlueprint', a battleship would be 'BattleshipBlueprint' and so on.

FYI

I just figured it out for spawnbp.  The names are case-sensitive.  So, if you're trying to spawn one of the default survey ships, then you will need to type in a command like:

spawnbp SurveyStaticBlueprint

Interesting. How do you bring up the console?
