Missing Planets Please Help

OK, they adjusted the amount of planets in 1.3 and I think they went a little to far. On a huge maps with stars, plants, and habitable all set to abondent I still have to go 3 to 5 systems to find a planet. Also it is very rare to find more than one habital planet in a system. Please tell me how to get more planets (even if it is moding a file).

I find the game almost unplayable. I enjoy playing longer single player where me and the ai have a nice number of planets to build out of.

On a huge map that would be around 6-8 planets per race (with 12 races counting mine).

Also anyone notice a lack of resources except for durantium (it is everywhere)

Sorry for the misspelling been up way to long.

There's a cuople of files you need to tweak:

Firstly, in galciv3\data\game, you need to change mapsizedefs.xml:

In there, you'll find 'base'. Base is the seed number; more or less everything is determined by multiplying or dividing this number - higher means more stars, more planets, more habitables.

You'll also need to find 'maxhabitableplanets' in the same file. This is a hard limit on the number of habitable worlds that can be generated on a given map size. You can set this number to pretty much anything; I've put it to 999999 so that the setting has no effect.

Then find galciv3\data\game\starsystemdefsf.xml.

In here, all the various possible star system configurations are determined. Look for 'habitablezone' settings (there's one in every system template). This is a hard limit on the range of habitable planets that can exist in a given system type. Adding 1 or 2 to the minimum and maximum scores here will generate more habitable planets.

End of SteelDragon78's quote

it's in the Steam games local files. It's not the 'game' file, it's a folder.

Where does steam save this I have looked in the my docs and there is a galciv folder there but there is no data folder in it. Nor is there one in my steam directory folder. Can you give me an example of how it looks on your system. Example:

C:\Users\Dragon\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Saves

Thank you

No worries. Tracking down file system locations for steam installs is a pain.
