Ship trails

Posting this mainly due to curiosity. The game seems to play perfectly on my computer except I do not get the ship trails that show up prominently on the dev streams.

This is next to nothing to me and the only reason I mention it at all is curiosity as to whether it is some setting or just a deficiency in my video card.

My computer is a Cybertron with a Gforce GT 610 with an AMD fx 4130 quad core processor. I need to upgrade my RAM to 16 from the current 8 but it seems unlikely that this would cause the deficiency.

In the game options I am running everything at default and the trails option is checked. Things like this bug me in spite of the fact that lack of ship trails is irrelevant to me. I just like to know why.

In options you can turn them on.

yes, they are turned on but still don't show up

I think it may be the graphics option to display 'particles.'
