tech tree question
Question, so when I get to the point in tech tree to choose industrial specialization and I choose research specialization does that mean I can not ever get to advanced construction, construction optimization, etc?

The most common way to get the other two is to trade for them.
no matter which of 3 available specilizations you pick, you can always progress in the tree afterwards. the 3 picks in the specializations are mutually exclusive (unless you can get the other options via tech trade), but they have no influence on the availability of techs further down the tech tree.
There is plenty of talk on the forums about building more than 1 building or ship per turn with overproduction. Most likely, it wont change. I'm 50/50 on the matter.
However for TECH, your extra research DOES CARRY OVER. Always select the next tech up the tree, as excess tech points will carry forward. However, the pain with this is when you hit a specialization branch. By default, all tech points carried over go to the TOP one (miniaturization is always on the bottom), which can be a pain. Not sure if this is intended, but in late game, if you are racing for a tech victory or just trying to catch up in a branch you never researched, you can research well more than 1 tech a turn. I've researched 4 in one turn before. This is because in late game you have A LOT of research points, and early tech is very low cost in comparison to high end tech.
Good information, thanks!
