How do you win the Research Victory?

I have now played my first Sandbox Game. As it is my first GC3 game, I played a difficulty - NORMAL.

I tried to win in different ways by saving and replaying while turning different victory conditions on and off.

I won by conquest, by influence, by transcending, but not by diplomacy.

And I researched ALL technologies, but I only reached the Research Victory by 90%. What do I have to do to win the last 10%???

first of all you need to complete the "aggression" phase in the tech tree

 

then you are able to research the three special techs (the white ones)

 

finally ascend to victory (by building an ascension gate)

I can't find any way to build this ascension gate. Where do I find it:

  • as a planet thing
  • as a ship
  • as one of the starbases

Or is it the same as the ascension victory (by controling these crystals)?

I have researched ALL technology - all four lines.

I guess it is because I have changed the victory conditions under way. Maybe I've f... up this game.

OK - but it isn't there, but as I said earlier, I have probably f.... up my settings by all the changes.

I will try next game to only go for that victory condition

Check all your planets to see if they can build it, I believe I remember seeing one of the pre-req techs mentioning a research building that's the base for an Ascension Gate, so the gate could very well be an upgrade of that building, whichever planet you built that on.
