0.71.1 Opt-In Wait Hangs Still

Reached turn 321, 341, 343, and now 351 on an Immense map with all races AI Godlike.

Same specs as my 0.70.5 bug reports.  I will state that saving the game and loading it will *sometimes* cause a CTD immediately on the load, usually after it's finished running the turn que.  However, sometimes the load completes fine and I was able to continue, as per my sentence up top.

Additional notes--technically it has only CTD'd once on the reload of the "wait" save.  My last three loads have worked fine.

Loaded the game and then ran 'soak' just to see how long it would go before another hang, this time turn 370.

I managed to run the game from the old save "frozen wait". I played the next 50 turn, and the game froze again on the turn

Aedaric,

Where those games mentioned above 321, 341, 343, 351 all new games created after 0.71.1? or previous saved games?

If so I would follow the support ticket info.

Oh! Here is the location for dmp files!
"C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III"

Thank you

Affirmative Seilore.  This is a brand new game started after the patch.  Do you want me to create a new ticket or upload to my 0.70.5 ticket?

Well, I've attempted to upload a support ticket six times.  The database seems to be having issues with me.

I would use the information from the most current version of the game and note this in the ticket.

Hmm, unable to post a new ticket; still recieving the error posted prior.

Had another hang, same game as mentioned prior, at turn 370--an immediate and reload corrected the issue with no CTD or restart of the GalCiv3 client.

lol

Play by play here on this game.  Makes it kind of funny.

Turn 372 Hang.  Saved and reloaded fine without CTD or restart.  Turn 373 Hang.  Saved and reloaded to an immediate CTD.

No luck on being able to post a new ticket still.

Turn 375 Hang.  Reload successful.

Aedaric,

I have seen some sites behave like this when you connect to the internet through an internet proxy or over a vpn connection. Sometimes it happens when your browser uses a proxy or caching server to surf the net.

Negative on all of those.  I also posted an bug report about a week ago.  I'll restart and give it a shot however.

VVVVVV Yeah, if I didn't love this franchise like crazy, I'd probably just leave it for launch.  Actually this is one of a bare couple games I've let myself pre-purchase in the last few years.  To skip that rant, I freakin love this game.

Edit 3: No more hanging turns.  Starting a new file (as recommended) has seemed to alleviate the situation; it at least put my mind at ease about this being caused by ships needing to be populated upon launch.  (earlier in my first save, that seemed to always follow the hanging turn if I could recover from it, and later it seemed utterly perplexing as every single turn required a reload).  But with the new game made after the Opt-In, my turn hang has stopped - so far.

This save is about ~270 turns in, which is about 30% higher than the usual turn count for my other games (though one of them did somehow last until around 310 IIRC...)

Some weirdnesses that I should probably go ahead and tally for the suggestions / feedback area, but as far as I'm concerned, this is way cool.

I'd like to see the space battles interface (camera controls) tightened up.  And I'm not sure if it's placeholder or just sort of a concession to development resources, but are the explosions meant to be a few frames' worth of animation that draw out over as many seconds?  Mine do that.  No instability, no slowdown or frame loss, just those animations kind of stutter around.

Edit: never mind, it died at 298.  Catch you guys at launch~! :)

Kind of wish the game had an override script, if it's not to do with idle queues.  Like, a button or command to tell the game "Acknowledged, pass idle/alert/whatever to next turn's status and then proceed with AI." I mean, it's nice that I can now (somewhat) hop-scotch past the problem but it's a shaky system I have of using autosave and scrutinizing every tab on the right-hand side of the UI.

The joys of early access, = )  At least we can play it!

Hey everyone,

Getting a very similar issue.  I've had two wait hangs.  The first one, I reloaded the game without exiting and was able to continue without any problems.  Also an Immense map, but with people on Normal difficulty.

The second wait hang (turn 228), I saved and reloaded, the game continued, and then when it appeared that the turn was finished, CTD'd.  After restarting the game and reloading the save, things seem to be working fine.

While hung, cpu utilization as 60 to 80% (core i7-4710HQ @2.5).

As to the uploading of support tickets, when I uploaded ONLY my debug.err files (6MB in size), I was able to successfully create the bug report.  If I uploaded anything bigger than about 10MB, it failed with the errors noted above.  I tried with both IE11 and Chrome (latest).  Once the ticket was created, I was able to add a reply and upload each file independently.  The full compress was about 34 MB in size.

Completely new game after the opt-in patch was applied.

Thanks rakker, I'll submit my debugs now.  Though I don't think I was pushing higher than 10 MB.  Either way, I'm sure they'll get it fixed.

I've played a great many Early Access games since the start of last year and to be honest I love it.  Yes, there are bugs and the game isn't complete, but there is something fun about watching a game develop.  Throughout the process it's also allowed me to see what types of bugs are big issues.

Awesome, ticket worked finally--looks like there is a file size limit like Ray mentioned.

Save game files are approximately 6 MB each.

The .zips are...variable.  Anyway, for anyone else who wishes to submit their information.

I just submitted a ticket and a file.  I like the game, but have yet to complete a game due to turn hang.  Started several games after the patch, and varied the size of the galaxies and the game just gets into a wait hang no matter what I do... anywhere between 230-630 turns.  Hope you can get to the bottom of it, as so many of us have reported it.

Has trying the newly released patch 2 helped anyone with their issues?
