tried all the method, still can not import model into game, "dump" happened every time.

Hi Everyone,

I tried to import a macross model into rebellion in last two weeks. I used all methods i have, watched almost all tutorial on official website and videos. But still got nothing, always get an error when i was loading the save game or operate the game.

first method

i am using Autodesk 3ds max 2012 64bit and 2014 64bit to finish the meshpoints and export it. "no bones added as points " this error happens all the time after export 100%.

second method

i tried to use XSI to export model, work like the the tutorial step by step, and transfer it to .mesh file by convertxsi. but an error happens everytime.  i also tried to use DEV mode to run the game. but did not get any abnormal warning then crash.

I think you have to add the meshpoints in XSI. Also did you add at least some basic points like Center, Aura and Above?

and i also transfer the .mesh file to txt mesh.

And i also have a question about the direction of meshpoints.

In rebellion. it uses an Y-up system or Z-up system???

i used two different plugins (SINSTxtTools.ms   and   SinsOfASolarEmpire_Rebellion.ms   )to import the model from game and found they are different.

I think you might have too many mesh points of some things. For example, you can only have 10 exhaust points, and twenty points of each weapon. You definitely went over on the exhaust points, not sure if doing that would cause a crash though.

i deleted all the points, just left AURA, ABOVE, CENTER.

I think that is not the problem.

but now the new plugins in Rebellion is different.

Point setup:

Instead of dummy objects the script now uses bones. Create the bones with the correct orientation and place them where you want. Name them as required by the game. Apply a skin modifier to the ship object and add all the bones to it.

He doesn't mean the data size of the model. He means the physical size of the ship in game. As it is now, your ship is bigger than a star, maybe even bigger than a solar system. Use the scale tool in XSI to shrink it down to a reasonable value.

Yes the physical size of your ship posted is too big. It has to fit within the scale of the game. I'm not talking data size.

Examples: The stock Tech Rebel Titan : BoundingRadius 1651.140381

                            A Gas Giant Planet : BoundingRadius 7500.001465

                   Move area radius of a Gas Giant gravitywell 48000.000000

                                           Your ship BoundingRadius 533783.437500

It is just the scale tool in XSI. It's right there with the translation and rotation tools you used to move the meshpoints around. Make it like .01 on all axes and see if that fixes it.

Make sure you freeze the model after scaling too or it won't carry through.

I'm sure there's an equivalent tool in 3DSMax, but I don't use it for very much. Just google how to resize stuff in 3DS it will probably be easy to find, since its such a common operation.

I scaled it to 1519, and just left 3 points.

has anyone even used XSI 2014 to convert?

best thing is to use the tool everyone uses, the free XSI mod tool 7.5, save the scene as .exp and upload that for people to look at.

I tried but failed.  and i also watched your tutorial. I found there is no SOASE preset choice when i want to export model to .obj file.

And haven't got that obj scripts in XSI 7.5.
