You're not alone, i was playing as Irid and my survey ship's destination i set within my support boundary but my ship went through 6? hex spaces to get there that were outside of my boundary.
It is allowed to do that as long as it ends back within range - you can do it too.
To make sure I am on the same page with your report. Would you kindly, submit a ticket via our support system so that I can better assist you with your issue. After following the link, run the support tool, include your steam name, describe the issue you are having and then send us the zip file to greatly speed up the process!
