Returning to game

I havent played this game since Diplomacy game out.

Now I have come back as been wanting to make my own mod for a while.

Just wondering what are thr restrictions now on the number of ship types allowed in game now that rebellion has come out?

How does diplomacy stand in the game now?  Can you have minor neutral factions you can trade with other than just conquer?

Just always wanted to make a ENT->DS9 Mod and wondering if this could be the right platform?

You can add as many ships as can fit in the ship building GUI (18 frigates, 9 capitalships, 9 titans) plus possibly more if you use abilities.

I guess using the Truce Amongst Rogues mechanic you could give players the choice to ally with minor factions, but this action is not reversible, and trading with them will probably never justify not conquering them.

Did they fix the 2GB mini dump problem?

They will never in this game... Maybe only in the sequel if that is going to happen. They only introduced some improvements so the game reaches this limit harder

EDIT: I meant difficult, not hard, English....

In a way yes. Un-modded the game should never exceed the 2GB threshold.

It barely goes over 1.5 GB. Thanks to the modders TSOP the devs got a lot of ideas and info on how to reduce all that. The only thing that truly needs fixing is the CPU bottleneck. Some of those we can do ourselves (OC and other small tricks) but anything else (Multi Core and Multi Threading) will take a rebuild/sequel.
