Stupid ship AI

I am disgusted. Simply disgusted. This ship AI is extremely incompetent when it comes to targeting enemy frigates. I was playing a game today, and my light frigates were targeting all different types of ships, and not focusing on 1 ship at a time. It isn't consistent at all either, as sometimes it does focus fire very effectively. But today, it was not, and it is very difficult to focus fire every 2 seconds as new ships are made whilst you manage colonization, research, and buildings/planet upgrades. This is an inconvenience that can have major effects (i.e. Marza Reaching level 6 due to your ships not killing the LRMs that were wiping out your fleet). I suggest a system where if a ship is targeted, any frigates produced during that time will target that specific frigate. If it dies, the entire fleet will move on and target another frigate of the same type unless another target is manually selected. Also, the newly created ships should  follow the same target/move chain as the other ships (of it's type). 

Example: Light Frigates Kill LRMs whilst reinforcement corvettes are produced. Corvettes begin attack on LRM as they are being produced, Light Frigates switch target to Flak Frigates.

Is there a reason this is in the modding section? The unit AI has always targeted units based on how good they are versus that unit but also some accommodation for distance and if it is already fighting a unit. There is not a lot a mod could do to change it.

Focus firing one ship at a time is a bad idea because of shield mitigation (whose entire purpose is to make focus firing much less effective).

I find the Vasari Overseers mightily annoying. I lost today my Titan to enemy Coronata, as they acted as bunch of retards and downright refused to keep repairing it. They would fix it from time to time, but nowhere near enough for it to survive. And it was about 10 of them and i directly ordered to focus on the titan, there was nothing else to fix anyway. But no luck.
