When I started playing LH, I used the Anthys Map (which was an option, just like normal FE).
The map plays nicely, however getting naval units back to land is kind of a pain. The resources are a little far away from one another which I understand is by design. With recent patches and LH upgrades and the overall absence of "hero huts" on the map, which were a resource in my opinion, there feels like less on the map even with every civilization on the map. The problem is less that resources are scarce and that resources in general are scarce. except for monsters too strong for me to fight off. I noticed the numerous resources you did put in, and well done. the world is more diverse however too many of the ruins just give an item. I would like to encounter a monster around my level +2/-2 or something just to give me some weaker monsters to help me power up while I explore and defend my territory.
You will be criticized for the AI by quite a few players, however I feel diplomacy is better. The reason is because the AI has more room to peacefully expand before wars start breaking out. This is crucial because when AI civ's discover each other, some might already be at war; the pacing is better this way. Rather than back when everyone was at war with everyone within 5 or so turns of meeting them followed by super sprawling.
Lastly, you still have people begging for a dynasty system! so, please keep developing the game. Even Civ 5 still has another expansion coming out, and this game still has potential of longevity. The one thing Civ has that this doesn't is a massive amount of mods everyone had hoped for.
The tools are kind of hard and annoying to use to be honest, and there is no steam workshop for it (yet?). I hope to see this changed because the increasing modder audience from Steam + the great modders we have here can spark the flame. Keep up the good work!
