Possible exploit?

Hi, I found that consistently if I left a settlement unguarded and a monster attacks and destroys it, I can simply reload my autosave previous turn and it will no longer attack. Possible exploit? I'm playing v1.291 on Challenging difficulty BTW.

This is probably due to the fact that it does not store the random seed in the save game, instead using a new one every time you load.  The test would be to reload, and if it doesn't attack you again, reload again and again until it does.  I don't think the chance of attack is very high, so you would have to do it a good number of times.  It is exploitable, and could be fixed by determining a random seed at the start of the game and keeping it until the end of the game.

You can also exploit the same flaw when visiting goodie huts to get the item you want.

Getting attacked by roaming monsters is also tied to difficulty. So if you were playing challenging or below the chance modifier could have changed to lower when you reloaded. They really should put a save seed into the save files for things like this. Because if there's a way to exploit the players will surely find it and use it. Also remember there are two difficulty settings for each game. The first one you select is for the wilds and roaming monsters, the 2nd one is for the other factions and you can set those individually as well in the opponents selection screen advanced settings. You can even team them up with one another from the start.
