Non-Aggression Pack Lasted One Turn

I was attempting to build up my little empire and ran into Kraxis who has double my power.  So I paid many guildar for a non-aggression pack.  On the very next turn I received a message that my non-aggression pack had expired.  What is with this?  Is it a bug?

Did it "expire" because he declared war on you? The AI's currently do not follow NAPs and Tribute Treaties and will declare war on you regardless of signing either.

I also had that message that a NAP expired one turn after signing it and twice even with an alliance. However, when I checked my diplo screen I was still allied and that never changed...

NAP's doesn't work. Don't bother paying for them yet ;)

Diplomacy is pretty much broken atm. I hope they fix it soon.

Who said I'd pay for a NAP?! *grin* Usually I end up being the more powerful, so others have to pay ME for a NAP.

At work I sometimes get a free nap, too btw. ;D

The tribute system is pathetic too.

I'll always accept free money, but what's the point of a one time tribute payment of 25 (or less) gildar? It's barely worth my time, and doesn't motivate me not to attack the AI.

Wow. That's just not right.

I would actually imagine signing a NAP followed by an Alliance might override the NAP since the later is basically a stronger version of the same thing. It really would not surprise me if that caused the NAP to end.

The real tribute is that they give you 10% of their income every turn for 30 turns. The up front bonus is just a sweetener.

I remember the ai in Rome Total War was like that. They'd come to me to make peace because I was stomping the crap out of them and they'd give me 10000 denari and the very next turn they would declare war on me again. This became repetitive until they were broke and I'd have 100,000 denari in my coffers. Carthage was easily exploited by this as I'd make peace and then blockade their ports the next turn and then they'd give me 10000 denari to leave and rince and repeat until they were broke. Many games just do not test things like this enough and the the players find silly exploits and then the game becomes unfun.
