No way to raze your own resource improvements?

If an improvement isn't attached to a city directly (within the walls) it can't be destroyed by the owner...? If it's far enough away from the city you can raze the outpost, but then you also lose the other improvements, outpost upgrades, and have to make a new settler. If it's within the city's borders though there doesn't appear to be any way to raze it without somehow luring an enemy onto it. This isn't a problem for most resources since there's no reason to ever want them razed, but things like monster lairs that keep spitting out useless units or shards you want to convert make this really annoying.

You can raze monster lairs before they are developed

Or just not develop them. Doesn't really solve the issue at hand though.

Just set the useless units to guard if you don't care about them. As for the shards I think they just need to fix the corruption spell to work on shrines altars and temples..

Some of the units have wages.

Last time I tried it, Corruption did work on shards which had been improved. It destroyed the altar, but also turned the shard into a Death Shard, and worked regardless of whether the shard was inside of a city or outside of it. This might have been changed since I don't think I've used Corruption since 1.0, but I don't recall seeing anything in the patch notes about it.

Ya I was doing something wrong with that one. Shard conversions work on shrines+. Just the lairs that one would want to raze in some situations.
