Help on how to edit .savereb and .statsreb

Hello! So i was looking on Google how to change the amount of credits you have in a saved game file, and i found this: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/176307 now i understand what to do here, but what i do not understand is how to open the file in order to edit it, i tried converting from bin to text but that did not seem to work, it is .savereb and .statsreb, when i open it up with notepad++ it gives me a bunch of weird letters. BTW i am running rebellion. So i am wondering if there is anyway i can open these files up to edit them or some other converting device because right now i cannot find any even on Google. These files are in C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Save-SinglePlayer. Oh and also don't tell me to use Dev instead because that gives resources and credits to all the AIs too. Thanks for reading and would any appreciate help.

It is not something people really do. If you want a ton of resource to mess around, use the developer.exe or make a custom map in galaxy forge with a ton of starting resources. Probably easier that way.

Also I read that link you posted, there is no way to convert an existing save from binary to text. His instructions only allow for future saves to be saved as text so you can edit them, by changing that line in the settings file.
