1 per game buildings

I'm confused on these.  Is there a bit of code that says if one faction is building one of the unique buildings then no other factions can attempt to build it?  I ask because in my current game I want to build the baazar.  It's an option to build on turn 121 but on turn 122 when the settlement I want to have it in hits level 2 and becomes a town the option to build is gone.  It's not just gone for the new town but on my capital as well (which is also a town and could start building it the turn before.  Just curious how this works.

When someone starts building a project building, or puts it in their queue, no one else can build it.

It's ridiculous.

However, they are not really "one per game".

In the current game, anyways, if another faction builds one and then you take the city which contains it and then destroy that faction you can build another one and have two of them.

If this ends up being a double post, my apologies. However, it seems I got logged out between screens and lost my original reply. Bolding in the quote is mine.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. On the other hand, I don't miss worrying whether a wonder I was building in the original Civ game was going to get finished or if I would get beat out by another civilization at the last minute.

However, they need to at least tweak FE's system before going to multiplayer. Otherwise, (human) players would abuse the system by putting world achievements in their queue just to block other players.

I think one per game buildings should be set by faction.  Like say, Resoln_playername_unique building if that's possible.

Playername would be needed in case you had two identical factions in-game.

Would this be possible?

There are already "faction" buildings like that. National wonders if you played CiV5. These buildings are like world wonders. If you want a "world wonder" thingie for only Empire or Kingdom, it could be possible, but why would you want that? The difference isn't that huge between factions to merit something like that I think.

Exactly why it's ridiculous.  I should at least have a chance to out-produce my opponent and build a wonder even though they may have started it first.

Alpha Centauri gave you a popup when an opponent started a wonder, and when completion was imminent.
