If unrest is too high do city militia not show up?

I have had a few different games where there is no battle when the AI invades a city I have only held a short while.

I posted the question here https://forums.elementalgame.com/436681 a few days ago, but other people lost interest in the idea (I guess).

Out of the handful of games I have played I have only had cities invaded about 4 or 5 times. About half the time there is a tactical battle and the other times I just get a message saying "City X is being invaded" followed directly by "You just lost City X"

Bug or design?

I have missing militia expeerienced several times as well (once even when attacking my enemy), but I don“t think it has to do with unrest ...

else newly conquered cities would never give militias if attacked the next turn after their conquest (and they definitely provide militia in this case)

I'd appreciate some enlightenment on this too - a city that I thought would be moderately well-defended was attacked and recaptured by Gilden because the militia (it was a level 2 city, so would have had three units of militia and one of archers) didn't show, leaving just three units of slaves to fight the invaders.

Was it because of unrest, or because I hadn't held the city long enough? Another city I had captured from Pariden some time earlier was attacked a few turns before and had a full complement of defenders.

I know there is a count down of 5 seasons before the town "officially" becomes yours in regards to razing (I. AM. MAAAGNAAAAAR!!!) so it might be the same with militia defenders.

Other possibilities might be that you killed the militia. If you attack a city and get the militia to half health do they still have half health when you attack again?

The only time I've seen missing militia is when two cities got attacked by AIs on the same turn.  I was allowed to go in and fight the battle for one of them, but then the other city folded without a fight.

I think the city militia only appears once per turn. If same turn, city has 2 attacks (conquer + reconquer) then in the second attack, there is no militia.

Not 100% sure, anyway.

It appears this is a bug where there is no tactical battle for a city that has been held for at least one turn.

This is my second post looking for some insight on why there is no tactical battle for cities that have been held for several turns. I thought it might be due to city unrest being too high, but after about a dozen games it appears to just be a bug.

Has anybody else been having this same problem??

My understanding is that this is a bug.  I have not experienced it myself.

Probably the best way to get it some attention is to post a bug report (with saves if you have them) in the support forum.  There is a sticky at the top of that forum which might be helpful in providing stuff that would be useful to the developers.

Thanks feelo. I have concluded it has to be a bug and there have been three other people (in this and the other post) who have experienced it as well.

I seem to have it happen a few times per game and will post a saved game the next time it happens (I don't have any saves to post as they have been overwritten by now).

Great game tho!  :)

That sounds like an awesome idea to impliment though(if unrest is too high no militias)
