A map where everyone gets their own star...

You know, so there is no 2v1 in single star system.

Hey there guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

Would love some help on something.

I primarily play Rebellion against teams of AI's. Specifically I do 3v3v3 on Huge - Multi random maps.

But here is what has been bothering me.

No matter how many players in put into the game, or no matter how many stars, alliances etc... the first star system will always have 3 players in it, and 2nd one will have the rest, while leaving the other 3 system unihabited.

What this means is that games usually end up lopsided because of scenarios like these:

1. 2 enemies + Me - I will have to fight on 2 fronts in my star system and will probably be severely under-developed if not dead. Meanwhile, my 2 friendly AI will take out the remaining enemy which means, if I survive, we already have an unfair advantage over the enemy side.

2. 2 Friendlies + 1 enemy - This means that the enemy will get taken out first, and the opposing alliance will already be weakened by default.

I'm looking for a custom map, or a setting, that will make sure that each player has their own star when they start. Or maximum 2 friendlies per solar system.

Thank you for reading.

There is a stock map called

Systems of War

that has such a setup.

Thank you, I will look for that one specifically.

I think Doppelgangers gives you your own system too.

I kinda wish there was a large random map that had multiple star systems that weren't so crowded.

I don't mind having neighbors, but having three completely empty systems and two crowded ones is kinda getting stale.

I had high hopes for "vast," but that turned out to be just a single random.

Ten's the cap for factions, right?
Five stars, two per system.

I really feel this game has too many one star maps. And calling a star cluster a "galaxy" seems a little cheap.

I'm not expecting Spore, but I do wish we could have a game that felt like the entire conflict in colonized space, not just a battle for a star cluster or two.

You may consider learning to use the map designer or galaxy forge to make your own custom maps...it will allow you to create precisely the maps you are requesting (galaxy forge naturally will give you much greater control than the map designer)...

There are some limitations...for example, in a 3v3v3 on a 3 star map, it may be desireable to make each team have their own star (or have a 3 player FFA at each star) but I'm not aware of being able to do this....still though, you could make 5 stars with 2 players each, or 3 stars with 3 players each, or 10 stars with one player each...you could even set where the chokepoints were and what planets each player would get...

The news maps where largely for multiplayer. It's hard to get a group of people to play a game that long, and who ended up in which star system would just be another random factor to deal with.

That said, if you learn how to use the map designer its extremely easy to make your own random maps. Even one where 10 players each have a star system. Or you could use the galaxy forge of course if you're willing to spend a lot more time for a map that's made exactly like you want it.

You can in galaxy forge, see Triple Entente, just put the homeworlds in different systems.

I can understand that, but it doesn't mean that the Long Range Jump tech should be irrelevant in a good 60% of the maps.

Most multi-system maps lack the variation and attention to detail a lot of single system maps have.

Maybe you could have a map where you combine existing maps together. Obviously you'd have to make it so it'd be balanced, but just mixing together what's already done would give us more multi-system variation.

Multi star systems were out of favour in most MP games since Vanilla I think. Reasons being:

  • Long games

  • Vasari cannot use Kostura
