Building cities on Wild Lands: anyone finds it useful?

I heard someone complaining that, by the time you manage to clear Wild Lands and are able to found cities there, it is almost pointless to do so because the game is already at a quite advanced stage. What do you think? If so, any idea to fix it? One could be to increase tile yields in the once-Wildlands, e.g. +1 essence and +2 production on each tile...

Looking forward reading your thoughts.

The yields are already better than what is typically found, and there are also already going to be plenty of special yields like gold deposits available. I do agree that by the time you can claim them, the settling part of the game has become somewhat pointless. It's kind of similar to colonizing Orion back in MOO2. The nice thing that game offered was that besides just a really nice planet, you also received several unique techs for clearing the guardian.

So, maybe make the yields slightly better, plus whomever defeats the Boss gets a shiny new level 9 champion on top of what is already rewarded.

The vanilla game as it were, and in betas,  I've only seen marginal settleable spots where you'd think some ancient capital would be well worth it.  I was expecting a 4 or 5 somewhere instead I got a 2 or 3.  So kind of meh really.  I'd like to see a 4/4/4 or all 5's either way I'd kill for that.  But anything with a 3 in it you can have.  ;P

i think i got an artifact I could use to give a bonus to one of my existing cities (like a growth bonus or something).  but yeah, the tile yields should be better.
