Mod question:

Hi Sins modding community!

Is there any Rebellion mods in the works that add more ship movement in battle? I remember awhile ago there was a mod that did that, and it greatly enhanced the look and feel of battles. I'm sure it does little for game play, being that frigates have few weapon systems (like one or two guns usually from what I can tell) on limited arcs, but it was just fun to watch.

Speaking of frigates / cruisers having rather limited weapons systems, is there any thoughts of a mod that makes them have a secondary weapon system of some kind? Like just a few missile tubes or turrets to add some spice to the designs?

*Edit- Oh yeah one more question - is there a port of Bailknight's graphic mod? I loved the weapon graphics and other particle effects in that mod!

- Thanks!

Search is your friend...

As for the movment in battle, you can do that yourself.  In each ship's file, go to the line where it says "HasFighterMovement" and change it to "TRUE."

And as for sticking secondary weapons on ships, that's a lot of work for very little return.

Thanks for your reply Volt. I did try searching for some of this stuff, but alot of the information seemed out of date and it was hard to tell what was still active vs what was abandoned or merged into another mod, ect.

I'll have to try setting up a little mod just for the dynamic ship movement using that info, thanks!

you can add 4 more weapons to each Frigate and Cruiser the main issue is that in large battles.... Effects Start De-spawning.

Its a shame that altho sins is an amazing modding platform in many ways its very limted

HasFighterMovement seems to line up to Movement speed and weapon cooldown, so you set your weapons to shoot a large volley as they do an attack run, otherwise the balance of alot of the ships will change.  (eg keep there current dps by increasing damage but have them shoot every 14 seconds instead to line up with attack runs, ship speed and range effect this time.)

If you open up the mesh files in a text editor its a pretty simple matter to stick on new weapons, you can line them up on the Developer.exe or with a 3rd party program.

as for fire arcs You can have the same weapon point on the side of a ship shoot diagonally \ /  they can then shoot right left and forwards.

The Advent Battleships side plasma weapons do this if you want something easy to copy, they will be the Weapon-1 with the highest X and lowest Z.

The mod you are thinking of is Dynamic Movement. It is no longer a stand alone mod, the author developed it as a proof of concept for his own total conversion mod back in Entrenchment, and I don't think he'll make a Rebellion version until that's finished. Besides, as virtually all the frigates fire only forwards in Sins, in most cases moving around diminishes their effectiveness. The only units really worth doing it to is the anti fighter frigates and the Illuminator vessel.
