I'm still not happy with my purchase, and steam are not offering a refund so who do I contact next?
You can try contacting Stardock but I don't think they can help you in this situation...

Stardock said to contact Steam for a refund, and Steam are refusing to give out refunds!
....so it looks like a trip to my local Member of Parliament to resolve this mess again.
Please note I am not speaking on behalf of Stardock here :
ParadiseDecay: As you purchased the game from Steam rather than from Stardock you would have to obtain any refund from them.
However I believe their policy is no refunds on games once they have been downloaded / played. I see you live in the UK but I am not aware of any UK laws you could use to change their minds as software is not covered by the Distance selling regulations once it is unsealed (or in this case installed / downloaded).

If your issue was due to game incompatibility I suspect you would have a better chance than just because you do not like it.
I do know in UK there is a law that lets you return any goods you purchased in 28 days (I think) for a full refund. Not sure if it covers digital media though.
The regulations of the directive given by European Union regarding distance sales are not applicable on software. You're entitled for refund only if you've not downloaded the product. The moment you complete the download you lose your right of withdrawal. Obviously I am not a lawyer, but that's how it is, for example, with Origin.

It would be 7 business days not 28 days and as Aruvield has pointed out it does not apply to unsealed software. The purpose is to allow you to inspect the goods as you would be able to in a shop. Obviously in a shop you could not open up the box for the software which is why such an exclusion was added.
If it were considered a service instead of a good then there would be a 7 day cooling off period unless it was agreed via the T&Cs that this did not apply and I would imagine Steam have done so.
Anyone ever realized that you can't find an issue with software until you open the box, but once you open the box, you lose your rights to return the software?

The game works, if the game did not work that could be different but since the game desgin have been made public and the changes where anounced...
give it a month. they said they were going to come out with a map pack with new maps, and theres patchs on the way, and god knows what else.

It has been noted from time to time. Unfortunately, when stores did take software returns people would just copy the CDs and then bring the box back for a refund. At least, this was a big thing where I was.

I tell you what the dead feel. The dead are not aware of where they are now nor are they aware of themselves, they no longer remember God and they are unable to register time at all. I'm not saying it's all bad, at least the dead are unable to register time. This will remain until the time for resurrections and judgment. Now I'm not saying this out of mere belief. I have had something revealed. I can tell you just that. Scriptures tell the same too.
Cheer your self up, you sound like a good person, STAY A GOOD PERSON despite everything. Just be grateful for life. As for the wicked they'll have to pay up for their crimes. Believe me I know some really really messed up people. The fools can't help but being a fool. Almost nothing could change them. But they'll be victim of their own doings.
Another thing each one of us is part of everything else. The living beings' consciousness does not stand apart. Like I said the potential for mankind far surpass what we have been made to believe(I know it sounds like the advent but really no implants

Well I just bought the game 2 minutes ago and it won't work tried reloading and running again and it still doesn't work, apparently my error is being forwarded to Stardock for whatever good that does.
On Steam website is has now recorded me as playing the game for 2 minutes even though I can't play it,
Does this mean I can't ask for a refund either?
If you're just getting a blank screen and have an nVidia video card, make sure you have the latest drivers. Otherwise if verifying the game in Steam does not help, support should be able to assist.
Yes, there should be a time, you can return it for a full refund. Otherwise that is a practice i cannot endorse.
What i tend do because of this is, i look at the advertisement for a nano second (realising that it is probably saying a lot of nothing and i need to get more real knowledge)and then head straight into the forums to read very carefully what people have to say about it. And if it is not embarassing, i will buy it.
Rebellion? Already owning Trinity, under these conditions, at that price point, i did not buy it yet.
What would have made me buy it for the current price? LAA enabled, multi-core support, better balance and more planets (hint, hint, ryat i love you).
For newcomers on the other hand it is a great deal. Go ahead and have some fun!
