Place teammates together option

Hi everyone,

 

with my Friends I often have to restart a game until we are together and thats a little bit boring. :)

What would you think about the possibility in random generated and Map Designer Maps,

to have an option, that stick Teammates always together.

I second this, I would love to see this option as sometimes when playing huge maps allys will be in a completely different star system while your surrounded by 3 or 4 different enemys, I don't usually last long, to be honest. :P

Well if Dirty Sanchez didn't advertise his map pack in this thread yet, then it means this forum is getting deserted. Devs, seriously, release that patch already, game is unplayable.

Sadly that's currently not possible. Only in premade can you assign teams to be together or just hard code every single player position (I.e. the host is always player 0, the second player is player 1 etc.). It would be great if the devs made it possible at least in the Map Designer maps, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

One solution would be to get my custom map pack, where there are many maps where allies start next to one another and away from the opposition.  The pack uses an easy auto-install program that will put the maps in the right place for Rebellion:

Reading this forum just isn't as compelling as it used to be now that I predict that Rebellion will be a flop for online multiplayer.  Having a full-time job and less time for forums doesn't help matters much, either.

This might be a dumb question, but does everyone you play with need the map pack installed or just the host?

Every player needs to have the map pack installed, otherwise they won't be able to join your game.

It's not a dumb question.  Sadly, this game does not have auto-download for Galaxy Forge-made custom maps (as opposed the ones made with the "Map Designer"), so anyone who is going to play needs to install the maps.
