To increase the speed of multiplayer games to 2x speed? I feel that its the perfect pace for multiplayer.

This is a joke post right?

More likely in "Sins II".

The game engine already gets stressed at 1x speed in heavy combat and in larger maps towards mid-end game. Especially with desyncs in multiplayer already, doubling the speed would make this much more frequent.

you used to be able to adjust the game speed in online games in earlier versions of sins - really annoying that you cant do it anymore because when playing with a mate over LAN you want to be able to adjust the speed

Shadow89, Are you playing with all Faster speeds?  (The host sets these in Game Options).  Because I find this setup online to be very similar to the 2X speed in Single Player.

Since everyone in MP has to stay synced, there would be NO way to change speeds in MP, without changing everyone's speed.

No, its not a joke post. I know its supposed to be a slow paced game, but for competitive MP, it needs to be faster than the "faster setting". I am not trying to say it needs to be as fast as SC2, but somewhere in the middle where you can reach end game stuff within 20 minutes and still spend money on ships for combat. I doubt anyone wants to play with a random person for hours or even save a game, not knowing when that other person will be available. I personally would like to see 1000's of people playing MP instead of seeing it fluctuate between 20-100 people.

Is it because of the 32 bit thing?

5v5 games usually only last 2-3 hours at most, and the biggest reason they last that long is lag....

Funny how we have requests for this game to be faster at the same time there are requests for it to be slower...

a 20 min game? really - better off making a map and giving yourself and all the players more staring money and 20 planets each - then you are straight into the fighting

Ive a better question for you - why does competitive multi player need to be fast ?

all the games i joined where set yo fast and when i tried to host one with standard game speed all the players wanted faster game settings

It's the game engine being 32 bit and single thread only.

I never said that a game should be 20 minutes, I said that you are able to reach end game research and still have a good size fleet for combat.

I don't have a real good answer for that except that any competitive MP game ever made is never slow. I am just saying if  Stardock wants this game to appeal to more people instead of people only playing single player vs AI which gets boring after some time, they need to make the game faster or rebalanced (maybe its ships do too little damage or ships have too much health), where right now the game is great for people who like to play by themselves or with friends who are committed to play long games. This game is great and I would like to see it succeed more than it has now.

2x-4x speed would be ridiculously useful for early-game. I tend to have to do a lot of sitting around and waiting while I need something built (And have nothing else ready) or gather resources, or even clear out planets of Militia.

Multiplayer would probably be worst for you if you tried playing 2x the speed of faster.

I agree with this. I tend to like playing under 2x speed. At the very minimum I have everything on fast and still need to accelerate time to prevent the game from dragging. Otherwise, the game just seems too slow. I know it's supposed to be that way to allow for micromanagement of battles, but I tend to prefer playing at a higher level.
