Custom Tech Tree- Universal Translators???

Okay so after a few failures I figured out how to create my own unique tech tree. It currently has a whopping THREE techs in it but It works pretty well....EXCEPT the race that I use this tree with has no access to such galactic essentials as Universal translators and weapons. The translators are the big issue, I could buy/trade to get weapons if my civ had access to translators but the editor presents no obvious way to put this essential into my tree. Anyone more experienced have a solution to this?

Open one of the other race's racial tech trees in Notepad or something.  Find Universal Translator, and copy the whole entry over to your tech tree.

Ah yes, I didn't get a chance to properly thank you earlier as I was having trouble logging in to the forums. Thank you very much that helped more then you can imagine.
