Events

I just had an event for the very first time. I didn't get a print screen of the fullscreen notification, but it shows up in the Quests list.

So what's the deal with these events? Were they just opened up in .90? Are they random, or is there some sort of trigger?

It said something to the effect of all my cities build queues being completed for the first item in queue, next research would be completed, and +10% population in all my cities. It seemed pretty overpowered, but then I've only ever had one of these, so they must be pretty rare.

I did get one of my cities to go up a level that round, but other than that I didn't notice any of this happening. The event stayed around in my quest list until the end of the game... but that was only like 20 seasons away.

I just had this one today as well. I am pretty sure that the first item in build queues in my cities did NOT get completed either. Whether or not my population jumped I have no idea. I believe my research did get completed however, I had a couple queued and when I looked it was starting on a fresh one, so unless coincidentally the research finished on that same turn that worked.

I think production queues are just bugged. I've yet to see any of the percentage bonuses from buildings/units/etc actually affect them so it doesn't surprise that this event doesn't either.
