Upgrading the sins economy game.

HOW?

by adding freighters, planets with resource needs, and random planet distress calls calling for particular goods.

You, the player, builds large freighters to form a freighter fleet, which then is escorted by your fleet to the destination world.  This world acts like a crybaby and gives ALL players reports on how much they need stuff.  This world need not be fixed, all neutral worlds could at some point have random needs to keep things interesting.

Freighters would be large and durable, and built at a capital ship factory, cost 30 ish supply and not require a capital ship crew.

The first group of freighters to complete their offloading mission (~5 minutes) Would complete the mission and receive a large payout in resources(the player would have the ability to leverage for more metal, crystal, or credits based upon their needs using the freighter special abilities).

This would give military players a way to gain an advantage that pure economy players lack.

These payouts would need to be large, after all the world is in distress and therefore can be extorted for lots of resources.

Please discuss.

I like it, but it's not Sins. The truth of the matter is the AI for 90% of the day to day operations in Sins (read: population, taxes, refinery and trade ships, etc) deals with most of these matters, letting you focus on the war aspect. For a game that's quicker than some of its 4x based counterparts, this amount of micro for a bit of payout is not sins-esq, IMO.

On top of that, while your idea seems nice in theory I'd imagine it could be potentially horrible if it was based on randomness. That econ player? What if he gets 3 calls right next to his planet and the military gets none?

If I want to fulfill mini-missions I play Anno... too much distraction from the point of the game for me.

I think you could implement something much more simple, just having planets request trade ports or refineries. Fulfilling the request could boost allegiance or allow extra logistics or tactical slots.

I think that would be cool to add more to the 4x of the game, but it would have to be a mini-upgrade. All I wish is that we could choose where we want our trade lines to go. And to be able to have a triangular trade line.
