Alright i had enough

Ive had enough of these crashes, i eather get mini dump error poping up on my screen or i hear a error *ding* then game closes and does absolutly nothing, single player it happens a lot later  but in multiplayer it happens down right ever 10-30 mins 1 time it even crashed not even 3 mins into the game, but when i can see the error it says C++ runtime error minidump. I could put up with it for awile, i understand people are haveing this issue but i want answers on how to fix this please...

The reason im also complaining is because my friend who im playing with never crashes...

*cough* BETA *cough*

Send in your minidumps/crash issues, and wait until the next update to see if they fixed it. Its all you can really do with a beta, that's why their having it so they can find and fix these things before release.

When we bought the game as preorder we agreed that we'd get an unfinshed product until the actual release date. Most people here are trying to help the developers by buying the game early and looking for critical bugs that the developers cannot spot by themselves.

If you just buy games to play them pre-ordering games for a beta access is not for you, as betas will always be unfinished, often not fully playable versions.

The problem with the C++ runtime crash is that it does not produce a minidump for the devs to debug.

The next best thing we can do it try to spot a pattern or sequence of events that produces this type of crash.

For example, I had this kind of crash shortly after requesting an allied Halcyon to attack hostile ships in one of my systems - the ship acknowledged the request and then bang :- C++ runtime crash.

IIRC someone else reported something similar when ordering allied ships to a star.

HEY GUYS, GUESS WHAT!!!!

SINS VANILLA, ENTRENCHMENT, DIPLOMACY WERE FULL RELEASES, AND

THE FOUR YERAS THEY WERE RELEASED, THEY STILL HAD FREQUENT MINIDUMPS.

DON'T GO *COUGHING* ABOUT A BETA, THEY WILL NEVER FIX THEM, THEY LACK THE ABILITY, WILLPOWER, OR BOTH.

make sure you have updated drivers, and your comp doesnt suck.

sending in crashes due to shitty hardware and shitty firmware dont help anyone.

so, I have among the nicest PCs money can buy

i7 procesor

twin gtx 590s

SSD

you name it i probably have it.

I don't have shitty firmware, hardware, never have, never will, and the minidumps have never stopped.  They never have, they never will.

I actually find Sins from vanilla all the wall thru Diplomacy to be one of the most stable games I've ever played.

Nightraid3r, if you're having problems with minidumps, send them to the devs. Complaining about a company won't fix their product. And having expensive components doesn't mean your PC can run anything all the time forever. Yeah, you have a lot of processing power and a quick read time, but how much RAM do you have? Do you have Large Address Aware enabled for Sins? What do you have running in the background? I find that most of my minidumps are related to the end game on large maps, where most of my RAM is being eaten.

Love or hate the game all you want, but please keep your complaints about it logical and reasonable and most importantly constructive. You're on a board that's here to find problems in a beta. And if you want the crashes to stop, please, PLEASE, send the devs the minidump files, a report about what happened when it crashed, and if possible, a save to reproduce said crash.

I actually only have minidumps when I play games for 6+ hours

or I have mods enabled

This.

Nightraider, perhaps you should disable any mods.

I get a minidump when i colonize the special game winning planet in the beta, as you do.

It's a beta - chillout.

And I have never had any stability issues otherwise, on 4 different machines over 5 or so years of playing sins.  The only problem i have ever had is using impulse archive restore function, but now its on steam i dont have any issues at all!

Try formatting and installing nothing but sins and see if that crashes, if it doesnt then slowly install your software until you get crashes and then you will know what is causing it.

I've never had minidumps in the game, safe for that one time where I killed my computer by running too much shit in the background (which really was my fault to begin with).

Until right before I started testing rebellion I used three year old drivers on a three year old rig and sins never crashed (I still use that rig, just updated video drivers). On large maps I just reduce planet, ship and structure detail quality and am done with it. That's also my first advise for people experience crashes.

Maybe updating .Net framework and C++ visual on your PC might help, too.

I don't know if I'm just uber lucky or what, but I've only experienced 2 mini dumps in beta, and none in Vanilla, Entrenchment, and Diplomacy.

Yes Nightrid3r disable those mods!

The funny thing is most of these people know I play exclusively online.

I don't play any mods, I never will play mods.

Sins Diplomacy is stable?  You must be joking.  When I switched PC's I had 1.5GB (no that is not a lie) of dump files from entrenchment and diplomacy.  Mmhm, I agree, quite stable.

Perhaps then you're ISP is crap and somehow that is screwing up Sins.

LOL...

YA for you guys who don't play online regularly...MINIDUMPS have occurred since day one of sins release...

Nightraid3r is completely right!

You have no idea how many minidumps we've experienced.  In my 700+ games played i've had at lease 150.

A ~ 20% dump rate is completely unacceptable, and no amount of suggesting that "this is just happening in beta" will ever excuse such a long standing problem with the game.

This is the single largest reason the sins online community has continued to remain small over the years.

This is because any sane person would have got up and left.  That is why all the longtime players are just nuts.  :).

bleh bleh bleh!!! muhuahuahuahaua!!!!

yeah, that kind of nuts.

It was probably sarcasm. People need to learn that tone is a hard thing to communicate on the interwebs.

Yes, for me who played Sins for more than two years it has always been stable. As I don't know just what software you are using and how it is configured I have no idea why you are experiencing this trouble. But it might also be related to your software and its configuration.

While I don't play over ICO we play a lot over Hamachi or using local hosting. Is there any difference that makes ICO players experience this while LAN based games don't expreience this?

@ mcintire

We are talking about stability issues on IRONCLAD ONLINE (ICO). That is what nightraider is talking about, that is what i'm talking about.

The answer to you question isn't known to me.  I'm sure its been puzzled over at ironclad games though.  Ask them and see if you even get a response :).

Its always been a minidump crash fest.

Well I sure hope it is.

Me and my friends used steam before getting sins, so we just used steamfriends for matchmaking and hamachi to play from the beginning not worrying about ICO.

Honestly I don't know your comp stats, but with my crappy comp and the last four years, I hadn't have any dump, even memory dump, and I am running on 32-bit.

Perhaps it is your computer is the problem not the program.

I have also been around sins since it came out and I have only had five mini dumps, and three of those have occured with the current beta, so for me this game is one of the more stable games I have every played.
