Titan Size

I may in the minority, but here goes:

I really like the size of the Titans, but I wish they were even BIGGER. Ever seen the size of Titans in EVE online? I would LOVE to have something that huge in my fleet.

Right now the Titans feel "appropriately large" but oh how I wish they were "ridiculously" large!

The loyalist titan could be bigger, but the Rebel one is about as big as they should make it. Any bigger and they'll start having maneuverability issues. Mods have occasionally tried to have ships longer than planets. Doesn't work out too well. ;)

I have a suspicion (unconfirmed) that Titans originally were larger as the Titan Foundry  seems disproportionately larger compared to the Titans being built. Larger ships end up having very difficult path finding issues more often the bigger they get. I think in general the sizing isn't too bad.

I agree...the Titan Foundry would need to be resized.  I was expecting something massive based on the scale of the foundry.

but would not the same be said for the otherfactory's? You could easily build twice as many frights and cruisers in theirs. capitals are fine.

Dry docks are meant to be bigger the the ship for a reason. plus the TEC factory is skeletal, nothing but a frame

Agreed. And I would love if Titans had a Doomsday ability ^.^

Titan size should at least be doubled, so that are acutally bigger than any other capital. At the moment, they are not.

I had the same feeling the first time I build the Foundry.  but yes, I even said this at the start of the beta that the Loyalist titan needs to be scaled a bit larger.  I think it really needs to be longer and not so much wider.

The game engine will not work properly if the Titans get much larger. Ship navigation through gravity wells becomes a huge problem and can cause ships become stuck.

The frigate factory also builds Cruisers such as the Carrier which take up more room. The Capital ship factory is again sized to the largest capital ship while the Titan Foundry is vastly mismatched based on the size of the titan.

This is why I was saying what I was, the ratio's seem out of wack and the Foundry needs to be resized down closer to that of the titan. This resizing will bring it back into the 'suggested' orange circle foot print of the facility (which it is currently bigger than) and will also eliminate planet and structure clipping from the current Foundry model.

I´m sure it wouldn´t cause any problems to simply increase the size of the visual model. But dunno if it would be possible to place the weapon-animation points outside of the collision-modell.
And even if the current engine wouldn´t allow Titans to be any bigger, then the devs knew it surely before releasing the Artwork with the Loyalist Titan at least 2 times as big as a Kol and creating false hopes, and in a way lying to us.

The visual model and the collision model are pretty much the same thing in Sins. And even if they did that, it would look really bad when frigates (not just fighters and corvettes) start going through the titan. I think the Rebel titan is a great size, the rest could be expanded to its level but I don't think they should be much bigger.

Anything pre-release is pre-release: uncertain and subject to change.

If you don't understand that, then don't follow pre-release info, because there will inevitably be changes.  Unanticipated problems throwing a monkey wrench in, or a problem you thought you could solve but it turns out you couldn't, or maybe the solution to that problem causes worse problems elsewhere.

In the end, the only constant is change.

Uh I don't know what Titans the people in this topic are looking at but the ones in my beta version are several times the size of capital ships. . . I do agree that the Titan factory is too big considering the size of the finished ship though

Not bigger than any other capital? At least two times as big as a Kol being a "lie"?

You either aren't in the beta, or are just full of it.

And one more, just for fun, some Bombers chilling by the Titan:

It is far bigger than the other capitals, not just in length but in overall mass, and I'd rather keep them as far away from the giant deformed stick/mushroom mess that are the EVE Titans.

There's nothing wrong with the titans being different in shape and size when compared to each other, if you ask me. Diversity for the win! If all ships would be around the same size, it would become a bit of a plain game I think...
